| John M. Garrison was born in Minnesota on June 22, 1881. By 1900 Garrison had moved to southern California and was farming with his parents in Riverside County. By 1910 he had established a photography studio in Los Angeles and continued operating it into the 1940s. He died there on April 3, 1964. His hand-painted photographs include scenes of the missions, coastals, desert near Palm Springs, and other scenic spots.
