| Dudley Cady Backus was born in Los Angeles, CA on Aug. 16, 1911. Backus was a resident of Pasadena until settling in Santa Barbara in 1947. He worked in hardware there until shortly before his demise in Fullerton, CA on Sept. 16, 1989. A self-taught artist and botanist, he specialized in florals.
