This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Margaret Twitchell Swank, born in Baltimore, became a respected artist in Mansfield, Ohio where her parents, Albert and Mowry Mitchell were natives.  Margaret graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art where she was a full scholarship student graduating with a Fine Arts Degree in portraiture.

She was instrumental in organizing the Mansfield Fine Arts Guild in 1947. She was named a trustee for life at the Mansfield Art Center in 1979. She was the recipient of a lifetime achievement award from the Richland Academy of the Arts and in 1995 the Art Center displayed, “A Margaret Twitchell Swank Retrospective” an exhibit of her lifeworks.

She also lends her name to the Mansfield Art Guilds annual show best painting award.

Written and submitted by Ian C. Grubaugh, whose sources are the artist's obituary and blog of Sally Tharp, a Mansfield Art Guild painting award winner.
