Jacques Louis Bonet was a Belgian painter. He was the son of a miller based in Grand-Manil near Gembloux. He learned painting from Ferdinand Marinus at the Academy of Namur, but his true master was portrait painter François-Joseph Navez, a teacher at the Brussels Academy.
Bonet died in Belgrade, a town on the outskirts of Namur where he spent more than thirty years of his life. At his internment in his family vault, many distinguished persons spoke:
