Biography from Meibohm Fine Arts, Inc.:
Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data compared to the extensive information about American artists.

Liliana Sereni, is an Italian painter born March 29th, 1932 in Capri, Italy. Her father was the famous Italian painter Ezelino Briante (Italian, b. Naples 1901-d. Rome 1971) who was well known throughout Capri and Italy. Briante lived in Capri from 1930-1941, then moved with his family to Rome. Liliana took lessons from him in his studio when she was young, and he recognized her natural talent around the age of fifteen. She soon decided to follow her father’s legacy and become a painter.

She studied fine arts at the Liceo Artistico in Rome and furthered her studies in Venice. She exhibited in Florence and also received recognition for the 'Quadrennial of Europe', when with a few other artists, was among 700 candidates nominated (with three of her works) as a representative for the next artistic ‘Quadrennial of Europe’ in London. She was represented in Milan and has shown throughout Italy, New York, and Chicago.

Her works have sold widely throughout Europe and are also in various private collections in the United States, Australia, South Africa, Canada, Mexico, as well as in prestigious galleries. She primarily worked in oil in an impasto style and is known for her landscapes and cityscapes, seascapes/marine scenes, and still lifes.  Her name is sometimes also listed as an alias of ‘Liliana Briante’ or ‘Liliana Sereni Briante’.
