A painter who had studied in Paris, Jean Paleologue came to the United States in 1900, he was known as Pal.

Biography from Best of the West Auctions:
Jean (Ion) Paleologue (1911-2004). Missouri, New York.

Paleologue was born in Greenwich Village, educated in New York City, and following military service in WW-II, Paleologue opened a studio in Buffalo, New York, where he exhibited and won awards with the Buffalo Society of Artists.

In 1964, Paleologue and his wife Jordis relocated to Kansas City, where he executed five murals in the London Room of the Phillips Hotel, opening a studio on Delaware street in the River Quay.

A painter and master printmaker, he taught at the University of Missouri and exhibited there and with Eva Reynolds Fine Arts.

He also contributed to the Hand Print Press (UMKC) Artists Print Portfolio.

Paleologue was the author of the monograph "A series of studies based upon a representation of the human figure, or figures, in an interior architectural environment, executed in a naturalist-surrealistic style."
