This biography from the Archives of AskART:
LEN (Leonard Zane Garon) GARON, ARTIST (1945 -   )

Born: Pueblo, Colorado
Currently lives in Alexandria, Va.
Art to Len Garon is a visual expression of poetry and music.   His art is Romantic Impressionism.   He looks to visually describe the beauty in his subjects through the drama of light, movement, color, design, texture and mood.   He is inspired by the training in Dynamic Symmetry used by the old Masters which opens up the possibility of speaking his message through the language of design as a poet or composer.
EDUCATION AND INSPIRATION:    Len loved to draw and paint as a child.   His “motivation fire button” to be an artist was ignited when he toured the museums in Europe in 1967 after graduating with a BA in Political Science and Economics.  “I was amazed and in awe at the art that I saw that was created by human hands and wondered what artistic expression capability I had in my soul and spirit.”

After receiving his Masters Degree in Public Administration, (Univ. of Colorado, 1969) he pursued art training while he was working in Hospital Administration for 3 years in Denver, Colorado.   He met and trained with Pawel Kontny, International Artist and Sculptor. Mr. Garon started developing a full time career as a fine art painter after having moved to Philadelphia in 1975.   He continued his art education by studying with many Master Painters at: The Art Students League, NY; The Barnes Foundation, Merion, Pa.; Myron Barnstone; and Dominic DeStefano, AWS.   Mr. Garon is inspired by the works of the Impressionists, Nicolai Fechin,  Richard Schmid, Sargent, and Zorn.   He has been a full time professional artist and art instructor since l975.
MEDIUMS AND SUBJECTS:   Oil, oil and marble dust, watercolor and gouache, pastel, gold leaf, and mixed media. His subjects include: landscapes, seascapes, florals, portraits and figures, sports art: Americas Cup Sailing, Tennis, Skiing, Martial Arts (Karate and Judo- he holds a 4th degree black belt in Kenpo Karate) and Abstracts.   His paintings can be characterized as being full of texture, color, energy, and movement.
