A painter, lithographer, educator and museum professional, Carlus Dyer grew up in Long Beach, California and was active there as a WPA artist in the 1930s. The remainder of his career was in New York City and Ridgefield, Connecticut.

From 1940 to 1951, he was a designer of exhibitions and publications for the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. From 1953 to 1980, he was Director and Curator of Exhibitions for the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Ridgefield, Connecticut. He was (showing 500 of 1212 characters).
