Biography from Brumfield LLC:
Gary McCauley:

Graduating from the Atlanta College of Art with a degree in Illustration and Painting, Gary McCauley went on work for the The Creative Circus as an illustrator and was a lead casting artisan for the Mark Hopkins Sculpture/Baer Bronze studio in Georgia.  His work gained him an exclusive article the September 2010 issue Musetouch Magazine titled A Wonderful and Infinite Thing Called Art.  He has also exhibited in Idaho, Georgia, and California.

Working almost exclusively in pastel, McCauley's does work intended to evoke a captivating sense of fantasy.

At first seemingly fanciful and imaginary, McCauley's pieces are actually quite self-explorative with a strong sense of personal narrative. These whimsical pieces, upon closer inspection, can reveal many details that the artist has purposely inserted into the imagery. Each artwork, while initially colorful and engaging, is intended to explore various personal themes that have surfaced in the artist's life, themes perhaps that many viewers can relate to.

McCauley's work explores the remarkable and unpredictable nature of the human condition. He utilizes universal matters, such as age or family, with the purpose of lending a private complexity to his fantastical approach.

His pieces, Out of the Unremembered and Into the Unknown, portrays a character floating from a land of childhood toys and approaching the elements of technology common to adulthood, documenting his own passage from child to adult. Another piece, When the Magic Ends, delves into a similar subject, what the artist calls "that moment when you learn Santa Claus is not real."
Broken Things began as a portrait of his nephew who has Asperger's.

McCauley, working for skillful rendering and visual fascination, uses significant life events with the purpose of drawing viewers deeper into the artist's work on very personal levels.
