This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Shirley S. Strich was born and raised in Rhode Island where she also began her art education.  She moved to Southern California where she continued her education and became a dedicated print maker and collage artist.  Her favorite was mono-printing, a printing process that allows for easy variations from one print to the next, making every image unique.

In the following quotes about her life she writes: " age seven I dreamed of coming to California to study to become an artist.  3,000 miles and 'some' time haven't changed that goal, despite starts and stops, including raising a family."        "The Master's program at CSUF is a challenge...  Above all, I wish to try for improvement.  A combination of head and heart, my work is a personal interpretation/restatement to that which I find about me conceptionally with a sense of fantasy-illusion-lyricism...  I hope, on occasion, with wit."    "I am fascinated by the possibilities of paper as a support - in both two and three dimensions - with explorations into mixed media."

"I believe, though possible, perfection is mostly unobtainable,- but the journey toward it is everything."

Strich died in Encinitas, San Diego County.
