This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following biographical information has been provided by the artist Erica S. Qualy.

Erica S. Qualy was born in Malaysia in 1985. When she was three years old, her family moved to Northern California. Though she enjoyed making art as a child growing up in Sacramento, California, she first formally studied art while attending Saint Louis Park High School in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota, from the years 2000-2004.

In High School, Erica applied to and was accepted to be on the Walker Art Center Teen Arts Council. During and after High School, Erica experimented with many different artistic mediums, including; music, film, drawing, painting, theatre, mixed media, photography, sculpture and literature, but ultimately she decided to major in Photography after being accepted to Memphis College of Art, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Erica studied at Memphis College of Art for two years (from 2010-2012) before leaving to pursue other opportunities.

She opened her own second-hand store called “Tako’s Treasures” and an all-inclusive art gallery called “The World’s Smallest Art Gallery Known To Man!” in the hallway of her house, in Memphis, Tennessee. She recently published a small book of poems, called Poems & Postcards.

Erica most recently contributed her photographs to the PhotoVoice Project, a research study being conducted by The Whitney, LAMoCA, The Walker Art Center and The Contemporary Art Museum of Houston.
Erica is mostly known in the Memphis community for her music (see: The Vignettes), her photographs depicting life in Memphis, and her paintings.

Her painting style could qualify as Pop Art, Abstract, Impressionist, Dada and/or Modernist. She has also done some pet portraiture as well.

She currently lives with her two cats at The Decleyre Co-Operative in Memphis, Tennessee.
