Pham Luc:

Born in 1943 in Hue, Central Vietnam

Former Major and Painter in Vietnam People's Army

Awarded Prizes in Arts and Literature from Ministry of Defense

Graduated from Hanoi Fine Arts University in 1977

Member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association

Exhibitions in Vietnam, Russia, France, England, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Australia and Japan. His paintings were selected and collected in Vietnam Fine Arts Museum and in hundreds private collections in Vietnam and abroad of which France, England, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, Russia, Poland, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada   and USA..
Pham Luc is a painter living in the capital city of Hanoi. His works are executed in a modern style with bold, firm strokes, harmony of lines and colours while intending to keeping the familiar soul and spirit of Vietnam. Some aspects of his works including landscapes depict the changes in Vietnam from war to peace, from sadness to happiness, and scenes of war are painted to carry the breath of life with activities of soldiers, women, children, old farmers and normal people in their daily life activities
He uses various materials such as oil on canvas, on paper or rice sacks and also works with cardboard, syrup, lacquer and wood-engraving.

The artist has expressed that through his paintings are reflected the Vietnamese heart and soul, the nature, simplicity and cheerfulness of countryside villages and women, and his own feelings about those subjects.
