This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Milwaukee, WI on Aug. 2, 1864. Lillian Dake moved to Santa Cruz, CA in 1877 with her widowed mother who later married Judge W. D. Storey of that city. Lillian became a teacher in the county schools at Powder Mill Flat (now Paradise Park), riding to school daily on horseback. During 1889 she briefly stopped teaching to study art in New York. Returning to Santa Cruz, she studied with local artists L. P. Latimer, Sydney Yard, and Frank Heath whom she married in 1897. After her marriage, she had a studio in her home on Beach Street where she instructed small groups of women in china and miniature painting as well as watercolors and weaving. On buggy trips she painted in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, and other scenic northern California spots. Mrs. Heath remained in Santa Cruz until her death on Aug. 13, 1961. Member: Santa Cruz Art League (cofounder). Exh: Calif. Statewide (Santa Cruz), 1931.
