Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Richard Schmid became one of the foremost Impressionist painters of the Southwest in the late 20th century. He is known for what he calls "The Grand Manner," a certain mingling of virtuosity and unrestrained joy in art.
He began drawing at an early age. At age twelve, he enrolled in the Famous Artists Course and later studied landscape painting with a friend of his father. After high school, he attended the American Academy of Art and sold portraits, (showing 500 of 13519 characters). |
