Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data
compared to the extensive information about American artists.
Dimitri Chiparus was a sculptor in Paris during the Art Deco 1920’s. Chiparus is well known for his small scale, colorful bronze or bronze and ivory female and children figures.
He studied under Antonin Mercier and Jean Boucher and exhibited at the Salon of the Societe des Artistes François in 1914 leading to an Honorable Mention. He was awarded a prize at the Salon des Beaux Arts. Scholars agree that Chiparus likely perfected the method of combining ivory and bronze kn (showing 500 of 1027 characters). |
