A J Elsley Riding In A Wheelbarrow painting.
Please can someone give me the correct title of this work
I have a black/white print entitled Mother's Treasurers that I love, but don't know if I should invest in having it framed. If anyone has information on the print, I would appreciate it.
I have had this framed treasure for more than 40 years...it was given to my grandmother as a gift....The frame is very old timber but excellent condition with brass corners... The backing is like a grainey plywood 4ml & painted.... Signed & dated 1897 on the bottom left hand side....hard to tell if a print as it is under glass. I don't want to remove backing as it looks to be glued as well as fine pin holes nailed every 60 to 80mls around the frame...however under a good magnifine glass it looks to be type of canvas attached to the backing board... Did Arthur paint in watercours? Is anyone aware of the Bathtime original being Auctioned to date. The image is of the little girl in the bath with the dog with her shoe in his mouth... Am I looking at my retirement or do I just have a lovely print...
Arthur J. Elsey
I have an oil painting that is signed A.J. Elsley 1895 with a Higgens and Bowers, Tower Bridge Road, London" stamp on the back of the exposed canvas. It is a picture of three young girls with two of the girls in a wheel barrel, a collie is standing up with its front paws up on the lap of the child sitting at the front of the wheel barrow. The other child in the wheel barrel has a pink parasol. The third child is positioned behind as if pushing the wheel barrel. The signature is "A. J. Elsey 1895". It is in a heavy gilded ornate wood frame. The painting itself measures 9.5" x 4.5" (exposed) the frame is 14"x9". Could you explain exactly what I have.

Spring Songs? I have the same one labeled "Baby's Birthday"
My painting is old. Looking closely at it ...it looks like it has been pasteled. Baby's Birthday is hand written it looks. The signature of Arthur however doesn't appear to be an original. I have heard in prior years research that he did pastel a few. Any one know anything? I would love more information on anything and I can send pictures, etc. The frame is very very old.

Arthur J Elsley watercolor signed 1904
Does anyone have information on a beautiful print of 7 children playing. Two are boys and 5 girls All in the typical clothing for the era of long dresses. One little girl is pulling a cart with a young girl and a boy in it. The others are running along side it, one boy has what appears to be a butterfly net. They are waving handkerchiefs. Rose petals are on the ground. There is a stone staircase and a collie is running in the pic with the children. It is breathtaking.

Arthur Elsley print
Im looking for any information as to the name of a print I have which I brought at a little auction a few years ago. Since then I have been unsuccessful in finding any record online, so far, of this print. It appears to be in sepia and depicts a girl ballarina performing for an extended family (looks like three generations) gathered in a semi circle to the right of the picture and a gentleman playing a black piano to the left of it. There is an Arthur Elsley signature on the bottom left of the picture, other than that I can see no further detail.
I brought the picture as I loved the compostion of it, and am just curious as to its name, not what it maybe worth.
Any suggestions to its name, or even advise on books which have his complete works in which I should search would be greatly appriciated.

My grandmother left me a framed painting of a little curley headed blond girl with a puppy. It is signed in print on the left hand side of the painting by Arthur J Elsley. It is framed in old, gold leaf frame with heavy cardboard backing. Under the picture, the framer(?) typed AN UNINVITED GUEST by Arthur J. Elsley (b.1861-fl.1903). Does anyone know if this is a mistake. I have seen this picture on line entitled "BE MINE"! Thank you.
