Hilda Cherry Jeffe
Hi.. I have Huldah Cherry Jeffe piece..I'm wondering if it is a true painting on board or print.. It has raised brush strokes, which you can feel when running your fingertips across very lightly, like a true oil would have.. It is a young girl dressed in pink, with hat, holding her doll. Can a print feel like a print to the touch? Help on this one please?

Huldah - Girl In Pink Hat
We just got a Huldah painting or print... It is called Girl In Pink Hat. We can not find information on this piece anywhere. It appears to be in it's original frame and paper backing, with a sticker from the NYGS (New York Graphic Society) and No. 39032.

There is also a small department store sticker on the back. Olds Worth & King. I did a bit of research on this department store, they started in the late 1800's and later were bought out in 1925 and changed names. That is why I believe this print is pre-1925 but I keep reading that Huldah didn't start her career until the 40's. Could this just be an early on, lesser known print and that is why we are having trouble finding any information? It is so lovely and we would be grateful for any information!

Carol Hill

3 carolers on a christmas album
I have a christmas album, Sing We Now of Christmas by the Harry Simeone Chorale made in the late 1950's. The cover has three girls who are caroling. It is a Huldah print as the signature is on the bottom left corner. The comment on the lower back of the album states that it was a Hallmark card. I have not been able to find a copy of this print. Even Hallmark could not help me. Does anyone have any information on the print????

Huldah forgery
The example of Her work on this site The painting Premier Au Rendez-vous is in my opinion fair forgery. The original was owned by the New York Graphic Society and released for purchase in Beverly Hills at the Walley Findlay Galleries October 25th 1984 where it was sold. When comparing the picture on this site with it's brochure from her show there are many subtle differences in the 2 paintings. Therefore since Huldah never painted 2 of any of her paintings the painting displayed on this site and it's sale would not be representative of her paintings. The original oil in 1984 sold for $4500-$5000 plus sales tax. I know this as I had the opportunity to purchase it but purchased the companion painting which is the more famous Deux Camarades. I saw the fake painting when it was offered on E-Bay and notified the seller that it was a forgery. The seller responded that it was probably painted by one of her assistants or that she just painted 2 of them. This painting is a let the buyer beware story unfortunately.

carl 10/18/2007
Carl your painting is a print by the New York Graphic Society. The painting is Les Deux Camarades. I own the oil painting which I purchased many years ago from Walley Findlay Galleries after it was released by the Graphic Society. Your painting is often found on E-Bay.

I have aquired 2 ballerina portraits by Huldah. They are absolutely beautiful. It is my understanding that there is another with a group of ballerina's. Is this so?

I recently purchased two Huldah museum oil painting and I am wondering their value. Above the stamped "Tavern on the Green" is V.5510-325. looking for info on art titled "Annette" by Huldah

huldah Tavern on the Green -- Painting or print?
I purchased a framed "painting" with water damage at an auction a couple of years ago. We've displayed it since purchased -- as is.
I believe that this "painting" is in it's original frame, torn paper backing, with labels mostly intact. I think this is a watercolor, especially with the way that the paint "ran" from the water damage. How do I tell if it's a print or a painting?
Attempting to determine whether I should have it restored . . .

Catherine Archbold

Portrait of a young lady; titled "Annette" by Huldah
I have a painting or print of a young lady wearing a hat which has a band of flowers around it. The size is approximately 5"X7". It is supported by a white frame. The back of the frame looks like black burlap. Label on back of the frame reads: H-282 Annette by Huldah C & A Richards, Boston, Mass. If anyone can tell me more about this picture, I would appreciate it.

I was given a Huldah picture a couple of months ago. It is of a girl in a pink dress holding a doll in blue. Any ideas of the age of the picture. It needs a cleaning real bad so it's hard to tell if it's a painting or a print. The brown paper on the back has come off so no idea of the name of the picture or age.

natasha taylor

I have to pictures that were my grandmothers. both are signed huldah, both are women one holding a dog and the other with a dog at her feet. does anyone know anything about these

Real or a print
I also have a tavern on the green and north central park pictures. Like everyone else I am trying to figure out if they are real. Mine are also paper sealed on the back. There are no numbers that I can see though. It looks like you can see brush strokes though. I have never seen a print of a painting that you can actually feel the texture of the paint. Just wanted to see if anyone else had pic with texture.

Jeannie Severns

huldah paintings
About 22 years ago, I purchased a painting from a German man of a little blonde, dark eyed girl, dressed in a fancy pink dress and hat, with a blue ribbon in the middle of the white lace collar. She is holding a doll dressed in blue. She is standing by white lattis with mostly purple and pink flowers on it. The background has a waterfall and a park bench with flowers and trees. A year or so later I saw that same man and asked if he could get me a matching picture of a little boy. He showed me a book with the artist huldah's work. It was a little blonde boy with a gold basket with easter eggs and a bunny in it. He is wearing a white shirt w/ double buttons, and flowers on the suspenders. He is standing in some type of garden. The man told me that the artist was german and only painted pictures of people. He said that on his next trip he would purchase the picture of the liitle boy for me. Upon his return he informed me that the picture of the little girl was called Little Sister and the picture of the boy was called Big Brother. I have no other information about the pictures but I would like to know the value of them. I have had a few people offer to purchase them from me. Does anyone know how I can find out how much they are worth?

Huldah prints (Jenger)
I was just looking on the web for some info on the 3 prints I have hanging in my bdrm. Like you I have hung them every time I have moved. I purchased them at a sale many years ago. The lady I bought them from said they belonged to her mother or grandmother. Anyway they are framed and have the titles 1. Les Deus Camarades 2. Travern on the Green 3. Premiere Au Rendez-Vous. I am wondering if these are all originals or not. They do have sealed backs but with time have got damage to them. What do you think? I will check back on this and get your view.. Thanks

Cherry Jeffe Huldah
This artist is remarkable. Her work is facinating. An American artist with the theme of French Women, Ballerinas and children. I recently came across a rendition of Premiere au Rendezvous. The subject is a Parisian woman dressed in upscale clothing with a furly wrap fallen from the shoulders. The background is a bridge arch or huge structure which I cannot I.D. Any info. would be appreciated. Final note: It's been difficult getting info. on this artist.
