Comments: signed and dated lower left, titled on the stretcher Exhibition Record: This Parker painting "Bottom Land" was exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1938. Contact Gallery for Price. Comments: Paul Parker studied at the University of Illinois, the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Chicago. He showed his work at the Art Institute on an annual basis from 1931 to 1940, but during a portion of that time Parker lived in Vermillion, South Dakota, where he was Director of the Art Department at the University of South Dakota. Another of his South Dakota paintings, "Hunting Season", was in the juried exhibition at the 1939 New York World's Fair. Parker moved on from South Dakota to become Director of the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center and a member of the Broadmoor Art Academy from 1939 until 1945. Later in 1945 and into 1948, Parker served as Director of the Des Moine Art Center in Iowa.
