Alden Finney Brooks (1840 – 1932) Known as a portrait, figure, genre and landscape painter, he was born April 3, 1840, in West Williamsfield (Ashtabula) Ohio, the son of Charles Brooks, a farmer, and his wife Sophia. In 1859 he traveled on foot to Wyoming country, and then served, during the Civil War, with a company of Ashtabula soldiers in the Ohio Volunteer infantry. Shortly after the war, he formed a partnership in Warren (Trumbull), Ohio, with the photographer Henry A (showing 500 of 1583 characters). |
