Though Brazilian, Bonadei received most of his artistic training in Florence. Here he attended the studios of Italian painters Antonio Rocco and Pedro Alexandrino and he met painters Ennio Pozzi and Felice Carena, closely linked to the Novecento movement, which consisted of a very eclectic style of painting. During his time in Italy, he came in contact with Italian Futurism and the Expressionism of the School of Rome, all which influenced the artist.
