As an artist of Realism, Alice Dalton Brown is recognized for works such as The Coral Wall, an oil paining from 1990, which shows a Victorian style colonnade in specks of light contrasted with the spotted wall of a coral.

Brown was born in Danville, Pennsylvania in 1939.  S he attended the Académie Julian in Paris France, the Université de Grenoble in France, and Cornell University in Ithaca, New York to study art.   In 1962 she obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College in Ohio.

She received the Judges Award Exhibition for the New York State Council on the Arts in 1979.  She was also awarded the purchase prize for the “The West Collection ’85: Art and the Law” United States traveling exhibition.

Solo exhibitions of Brown’s work have been held at venues, such as the Fischbach Gallery in New York City.  Group exhibitions in which her work was displayed have been organized at institutions, including the A.M. Sachs Gallery in New York City; Columbus Museum in Ohio; Maier Museum of Art in Lynchburg, Virginia; Marion Koogler McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas; Swain Galleries in Plainfield, New Jersey; and the William Sawyer Gallery in San Francisco, California.
