| Allesandro Baccari was born in Naples, Italy on Nov. 20, 1890. Baccari was well educated in his native land and spoke 11 languages. In 1906 he arrived in the U.S. and entered Harvard University. By the 1920s he had a studio in San Francisco at 228 Grant Avenue and a home across the bay in Ross. Baccari died in San Francisco on Sept. 5, 1966. Multitalented, he was also a musician, playwright, and photographer. He used the pseudonym Mario Mani.
