| Watercolorist, textile designer, and teacher Charles Barton received formal art training in his native Hungary before immigrating to New York City. By 1931, he had established his own studio in the city and built a successful career designing for the major printed fabric manufacturers in the United States, as well as Canada, Australia, Mexico, and Europe.
Barton held teaching positions at the Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences, andSilvermine College of Art.
Barton exhibited at and was a member of the American Water Color Society, Hudson Valley Art Association, and Silvermine Guild Arts Center.
