Watercolorist, textile designer, and teacher Charles Barton received formal art training in his native Hungary before immigrating to New York City. By 1931, he had established his own studio in the city and built a successful career designing for the major printed fabric manufacturers in the United States, as well as Canada, Australia, Mexico, and Europe.
