This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| A portrait painter who first painted in realistic style and then turned
to cubism and abstraction in the 1920s, Benjamin Berlin was born in
Washington D.C. and moved to Los Angeles in 1914 where he studied at
Cannon Art School and the University of Southern California.
Until
his death in 1939, he worked for the WPA, and his work seemed to grow
increasingly abstract, seemingly much affected by his alcoholism.
His work is in the Long Beach Museum of Art.
