Biography from Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art:
| An emerging plein-air landscape impressionist, Carl Belfor spends much of his time just getting out in nature and observing. "There is so much beauty around us, if you look long enough at any landscape, you will find something special," says Carl. His love of nature is immediately evident in his oil paintings depicting mountain ranges, ocean landscapes, and canyons lush with oak trees and native wildflowers. Belfor's greatest inspiration is his wife, artist Lynn Gertenbach. Together they have traveled to France, Italy, Tahiti, Portugal, Canada and China to paint.
Recently, he worked as Lynn's assistant at the annual Plein Air Painters of America workshop in Old Lyme, Connecticut. He has also studied under other plein-air artists including: Kenn Backhaus, David Jonas, Marlin Linville, Ron Rencher, Matt Smith, and George Strickland.
Belfor has a degree in Motion Picture/Television Production from UCLA and was Producer of the television special, "Leonardo Da Vinci: A Personal View". Additionally he studied art history and stage design for live theatre at Butler University, which provided him a background in the visual elements of composition.
He is a Painting Member of the California Art Club and was juried into their 93rd annual Gold Medal Exhibition, which allowed him to exhibit his works at the Pasadena Museum of California Art with other artist members including Peter Adams, John Asaro, George Carlson, David Leffel, and Mian Situ. His paintings were also part of a group show at the Chinese Cultural Institute in El Monte, California.
