| | Born in San Francisco, CA on June 2, 1909. In 1929 Bowman entered the CSFA where he was a pupil of Alice Chittenden and Spencer Macky. Due to the Depression he abandoned his art career in the early 1930s and went to work for O'Hair Plumbing Supply where he remained until retiring in 1976 as a vice-president. He then moved to Pacific Grove and began painting again. He remained there until his death on July 27, 1998.
