Carmen Gonzales/Funes, no middle name (Dingman, Bolender). Carmen was born in Colima Mexico on Feb 21, 1898 to Andres and Conception Gonzales. Her father was a painter in Mexico where he stayed and went on to later paint in France.
Carmen and her family moved to Bakersfield in 1910. She was best known for her oil paintings of California landscapes and seascapes. Carmen traveled all over California stopping at her every whim to paint. Carmen painted until her passing Sept 10, 1973. |
