Cecily Brennan (b.1955)
Born in Athenry, Co. Galway, She studied at NCAD from 1974-1978, developing an expressionistic, heavily gestural drawing and painting style. In 1982 she had her first solo exhibition at the Project Arts Centre, where she later served as director (1983-1986). Other solo shows include the Taylor Galleries (1985, 1988 and 1996) and the Douglas Hyde Gallery (1992), Dublin, the Crawford Municipal Gallery (1992), Cork, Limerick City Gallery (1992) and most recently the Nuova Icona gallery (2002) in Venice. She is a member of Aosdana and now lives in Dublin.
