| Keith Blanchard was born in Austin, Texas in 1956. He studied under Amado Pena and later graduated with honors from the Southwest Texas State University in 1979 receiving a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts.
Blanchard is a prominent water colorist whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is included in many private collections on three continents.
A professional background based in commercial art, including advertising, magazine illustration and courtroom drawing for a local television station in Austin, has made Mr. Blanchard very conscious of the ways to evoke a response from the viewers of his art. In his own words, "What I am looking for is the intensity of the response. It is usually going to be either very positive or very negative, and I can live with both. I produce images that a viewer can interpret in any way they wish. And that alone is a valid reason for that image to exist. I feel that it is an artist''s obligation to share his feelings and experiences--the writer, the poet, the musician, the painter are all important for that reason."
After his marriage and relocation to Rio de Janeiro, Mr. Blanchard became influenced by the vigor and movement of that city. Although he is an artist who has worked in all major artistic media, he is best known for his water color nudes.
Mr. Blanchard currently resides in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
