This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The brother of Boston portrait painter Joseph Badger (1708-1765), Daniel Badger moved from Boston to Charleston, South Carolina in 1735 when he was 21 years old.  His advertising announcement in Charleston was that he "undertakes and completes all sorts of House and Ship paintings very reasonable and after the best manner."
