David Buchanan exhibited at the Royal Academy, the RWA and at many other exhibitions. Known for his watercolor work - from his time in the Western Desert and Italy during the WWII, but collections of his work exist recording journeys he made throughout England and Scotland in the 1920's. His large oil paintings are often reworkings of his watercolors. In later life, he was commissioned to paint numerous portraits (usually in oil). As a very young man his first picture was accepted and hung at the Royal Academy, and he subsequently exhibited there many times.
He was born in London in 1914, son of A. S Buchanan (another artist), studied at Hornsey Art College, and later at Corsham after the war. He died in Oxfordshire in April 1999.
