| Don Bloom, a painter of seascapes, was born in San Jose, California on June 28, 1920. He was raised on his family's farm near Gustine, California and attended San Jose State University. In 1952 Bloom attended the California School of Fine Art in San Francisco followed by further study with Frank Meyers and Bennett Bradbury. During World War II he served in the US Air Force as a lead navigator. His plane was shot down over Vienna, Austria, and he spent the last year of the war as a prisoner of the Germans. Bloom lived on the Monterey Peninsula from 1955 to 1966. He lived in Big Sur for a number of years, and then moved to Napa Valley. His last known residence was in Santa Cruz, California. Bloom was a Member of the Carmel Art Association for over 30 years. He served on it's Board of Directors in 1975-75.
