| Painter, etcher, pastelist. Born in Washington, DC on Jan. 7, 1905, Doris was the daughter of artist Ward Winchell. She studied in Los Angeles at the Chouinard and Otis art institutes and with Marion Kavanagh Wachtel.
She began as a portrait painter and later switched to landscapes and seascapes. Mrs. Baker died at her home in Big Sur, CA on Feb. 14, 1987.
