Biography from Chapman Gallery:
Dot Bunn is a full time studio painter, teacher and lecturer working in a traditional method of oil painting.  She is a life long resident of Bucks County.  Her award winning work has been exhibited at numerous juried shows including Salmagundi Juried Exhibition and Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in New York City.  Twice she has received the top award for Best Painting at the Phillips’ Mill Juried Art Exhibition (2004, 2007).

Bunn was honored to have four of her figurative paintings selected by Philadelphia/Tri State Artists Equity Association to hang in their Select Exhibition.  She has had five one woman shows in the past four years.

She teaches traditional oil painting and color mixing from her studio in Bucks County, at Mixed Media in Doylestown, and at the Art Colony in Stockton, New Jersey, as well as lecturing at Delaware Valley College to adult education classes.

Dot Bunn is a classical painter in oil using a combination of traditional and modern methods.  “As a studio painter I believe that the most important part of creating a good painting is the planning that takes place before color ever touches the canvas.  My process involves making deliberate choices starting from the point of selecting an image through composition, color choices and execution of the actual work.”

“I believe that an artist should work toward achieving mastery of each individual element inherent to the creation of a work of art – inspiration, creativity, methods and techniques, preparation, understanding the tools, and ongoing research and experimentation.  For me, these all play an important role in creating a total painting -- a work that will also endure over time.”

Biography from Sabine Rose Gallery, Inc.:
Art has always been Dot Bunn's life-long occupation. Over the years, she worked in watercolors, oils and textiles. Her formal art education includes the Hicks Art Center at Bucks County Community College and the Philadelphia College of Textile and Science as well as with distinguished individual instructors.

Her art has been exhibited at numerous galleries and shows in Bucks County, Pennsylvania as well as in New Jersey, New York and in Canada. For about twenty five years, she worked as a graphic designer in the printing industry. For the past five years, she and her husband have been cultivating a decorative arts business offering custom artwork and murals for home and business.

Bunn considers herself very fortunate to live in such a beautiful area doing what she truly loves to do. Her works ranges from traditional themes such as still life and landscapes to a delightful whimsical line of children's images.
