This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Born in Sunset, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City, Doug Braithwaite
lives in his childhood home and is a painter of scenes in the state
with which he is so familiar. He travels very little away from
Utah, and among his painting subjects are rural treescapes, crowded
neighborhood houses and snowy streetscenes---all done in a style that
combines realism and abstraction.
His art talent was apparent from childhood, but it was not until he was
married with two children that he dedicated himself to full time
painting. He works from a studio, which is two doors from his
house.
