This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Oakland, CA on Sept. 6, 1889. "Pete" Bangs was a student of architecture at UC Berkeley. After earning an M.A. degree in 1915, he served in WWI and afterwards taught architecture for a few years in France. He then returned to Berkeley where he became a partner of John Galen Howard. As an architect he designed and built many public buildings in northern California including the Contra Costa Hall of Records in Martinez, the courthouses in Shasta and Butte Counties, and Lewis Hall at UC Berkeley. His watercolors include landscapes of California, Hawaii and Europe. A lifelong resident of the San Francisco Bay area, Bangs died at his home in Piedmont on Jan. 1, 1977. Member: Berkeley Arch. Heritage Ass'n. Exh: CHS, 1968 (solo). In: CHS.
