| A resident of Dorset, Vermont, Elsa Bley became a painter and the
founder and director of the Scarsdale, New York Art Guild,
1934-1945. From 1951 to 1958 and 1963-1965, she was a teacher at
the Southern Vermont Art Center.
Bley studied at the Art
Students League* and the Grand Central School of Art* in New York
City. She was also a student of George Luks, George Pearse Ennis,
Wayman and Henry B Snell.
She was a member of Hudson Valley Art Association*, Scarsdale Art Association, and the National Arts Club*.
