| Elise de Celles Beaton was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 2, 1892. She moved to California in the early 20th Century. She eventually settled in Carmel on the Monterey Peninsula.
Beaton studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, Carmel Art Institute under John and Patricia Cunningham, Stanford University, and the Monterey Peninsula College. She studied privately with Armin Hansen, Eliot O'Hare, Rosamond Colome, and Richard Yip. She was a long time artist member of the Carmel Art Association.
Beaton exhibited at the Artists Guild of America (Carmel), Amado County Museum, San Juan Bautista Annual Exhibit, and at the California State, Monterey, and Imperial County Fairs. She was an award winner in many of the venues in which she exhibited her art. She was an artist in residence for the California Ghost Town at Bodie.
Elise de Celles Beaton died in Monterey on December 7, 1984.
