This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Esther R. Bacon, a noted artist and interior decorator, was born July 20, 1895 in Elgin, Illinois, the daughter of Christian Lewis and Charlotte (Landgraf) Richmann.

She attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago and was a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago. While in Chicago, she worked as an illustrator for several publishing companies and was also employed by Marshall Field's as an interior decorator. She decorated many buildings including the Drake Hotel and The Chicago Theater.

After her marriage, Mrs. Bacon was very active in the Detroit area art circles and regularly exhibited with the Michigan Artists and the Society of Women Painters. She was also a member of the Society of Arts And Crafts.

A longtime resident of Birmingham, Michigan, she died on April 27, 1983 after a long illness.

Written and submitted October 2004 by Edward Bentley, art collector and researcher from Lansing, Michigan.
