FRANCIS HENRY BACON, 1856-1940, Artist, decorator, archaeologist.
Bacon did very few paintings. His major work was in pen and ink and his writings are profusely illustrated. As a designer he introduced classic elements in his furniture, which was, for the most part, Colonial Revival.
Born in Chicago, first of seven children. Both parents were from the Boston area, descended from early settlers. Father was a Civil Engineer who worked in Indiana, Michigan, Maine and North Carolin (showing 500 of 2930 characters). |
