Franz Xaver Bergmann (b. 1861 / d.1936)
Bergmann’s father was a professional chaser who immigrated to Vienna and founded a small bronze factory in 1860. Bergmann inherited the company from his father. Then, in 1900, he opened a new foundry. Many of the bronzes from the 1900s were based on designs from his father.
Bergmann hired many anonymous sculptors. He would then paint the sculptures in a style called “cold painted bronze,” which refers to pieces cast i (showing 500 of 919 characters). |
