| Painter. Born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 30, 1886. Bessinger studied art in Chicago. After spending many years as an inmate in an insane asylum, he settled in Los Angeles in 1910. After 1930 he was active as an artist in Santa Monica. He died in Long Beach, California on November 21, 1971. As well as a painter, he was also a poet.
