This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is from Jim McCain, Moody, Alabama:

I developed this biography after purchasing a Bosley painting from Vose
Gallery in Boston.

FREDERICK ANDREW BOSLEY, A.N.A.
American
Born: 1881 in Lebanon, New Hampshire
Died: 1942 in Concord, Massachusetts

Painter of portraits, figures and still lifes. Bosley entered the Boston
Museum School in 1900 and became a favored pupil of Tarbell and Benson. He
won the School's Sears Prize in 1904 and the Paige Traveling scholarship in
1907, which allowed him two years of European study.

Upon his return, he married Emily Sohier and taught at Abbott Academy in 1909 and at the Groton School until until 1912 when he succeeded Tarbell as painting instructor at the Boston Museum School. He kept this position until 1931 when he resigned to protest changes in school policy that allowed for the introduction of modern art.

Bosley was a regular exhibitor at the Guild of Boston Artists. His paintings are clearly indebted to his teachers: Tarbell, Benson and Abbott Thayer. They combine flickering impressionist color with solidly drawn figures. Tarbell took up contributions from local artists and presented Bosley's "Dreamer" to the Boston Museum of Fine arts in 1916.

Memberships: Copley Society, St. Botolph Club, Guild of Boston artists,
Concord Art Association, National Academy of Design where he became an
Associate in 1931.

exhibits)
