Born in Birmingham, England, Gary Benfield is a painter of 'dissolving'
female figures and horses that give the impression of spontaneity and quick movement
across his canvases. He works rapidly to "capture the fluidity
and grace of motion" of his subjects. "For Benfield the world is
a continuous sequence of contained causality. Objects and figures
intertwine in his mind, they dance, they fuse, and one adopts the color
and life of the other." (Bruno Publishing)
