| Georgia Crittenden Bemis was born in Delano, MN on Jan. 13, 1908. Bemis moved to San Diego, CA in 1928. She studied there at the Academy of Fine Arts and with Pauline DeVol, Charles Reiffel, Otto Schneider, and Ruth Norton Ball. After five years in San Diego, she moved to the San Francisco Bay area. Portraits became her specialty, both in oil and various sculpture media. In 1939 she went to New York to paint Mayor LaGuardia for the Arizona Bldg at the World's Fair.& (showing 500 of 2644 characters). |
