| Sarah H. Wilson Bickell was born in Iowa on June 26, 1865. “Hattie” was the wife of printer Lewis A. Bickell. She and her husband and two daughters lived in Montana (1887), Illinois (1895), and Oregon (1899). She was a resident of San Francisco from 1900 until the earthquake in 1906. Moving across the bay to Oakland, she lived there until her death on August 16, 1940. Her paintings are rare.
