| Watercolor flower painter, Henrietta Maria Benson was Winslow Homer's mother. While growing up in Cambridge, Massachusetts she received instruction in watercolor. Throughout her life and even after her marriage she continued to paint.
Along with her son, Winslow Homer, she exhibited at the Brooklyn Art Association in the 1870's.
