| | Born in San Francisco, CA on June 17, 1888. At age 12 Hester Pennington studied art at the Mark Hopkins Institute under Arthur Mathews. By 1926 she was the wife of Dr. George A. Briggs and a resident of Sacramento where she served as director of the Kingsley Art Club. In that year she exhibited at the Sacramento Public Library realistic scenes of that city as well as local landscapes, a portrait of her daughter, and views of Sutter's Fort.
