| The following biography of Igor V. Babailov was submitted January 2005 by Ann C. Lemire, art collector.
A native of Russia, Igor Babailov has an artistic background that began in his early childhood. Although he painted portraits of friends when he was only four years old, he commenced formal schooling when he was ten at a local preparatory art school. Upon graduation, Babailov was selected in a nationwide competition to attend Moscow's School of Fine Art where he decided to become a classical portrait artist.
Babailov's fine-art education continued at the Surikov Academy for Fine Arts in Moscow, earning his Master of Fine Arts within five years. Upon graduation, he was officially commissioned to paint the portrait of Nikita Khruschev's granddaughter, Natasha.
Babailov then moved to North America, where he established himself as a portrait painter in both Montreal, Canada; and Miami, Florida. A portrait painted by Babailov is in the White House Collection.
