| The following is from Stephen Mc Canse who credits Colin S. MacDonald's set of books, "A Dictionary of Canadian Artists."
James Jerris Blomfield OSA (1872-1951) He learned painting, engraving and stained glass production from his father, who opened the first Art Glass business in B.C. in 1899. In 1894, James illuminated an address for the Governor General of Canada, Lord Aberdeen. Aberdeen was so impressed that he sponsored James' education in England and Belgium.
Upon return he studied at the Arts Students League in New York. In 1899, he studied with art glass firms in Chicago, New Orleans, London and Manchester. He designed the Queen Victoria Memorial in Stanley Park, Vancouver. He was a professor of design at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art. His work was shown in many Toronto Galleries.
